About The Position

Element has an opportunity for a Failure Analyst who will be primarily responsible for the failure analysis inspections, operations, reporting and consultation services. Salary: $85,000 - $120,000/yr DOE

Requirements

  • Experience and recognized qualification in Metallurgy.
  • Bachelors degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in failure analysis.
  • Experience in conducting and reporting of root cause failure analysis
  • Experience in working with SEM / EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy / Energy Dispersive analysis)
  • Experience working in an ISO 17025 (Nadcap preferred) laboratory environment
  • Strong communication / presentation skills
  • The ability to assess and respond to client requirements in an appropriate manner prioritizing customer service and professional partnerships
  • Ability to operate and function within a team, drawing on other expertise where required
  • Flexibility and adaptability to different workloads and roles within the company

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain client contact for the purposes of market/account development, understanding customers’ needs, building personal relationships, ensuring satisfaction, and maintaining a professional consulting image.
  • Review technical documents and to construct a suitable scope of work. Prepare written proposals, schedule tests, analyze test results and prepare high-quality reports.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis investigations on metallic components from the aviation/ aerospace, space, transportation, consumer products / industrials and energy industries
  • Metallurgical examinations / optical microscopy
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
  • Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS)
  • Safely operate and maintain lab equipment in compliance with company requirements. Estimate the work effort required and to help in the commercial breakdown of the work
