About The Position

Position Summary: The Stamping Press Setup Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting stamping presses in a metal manufacturing environment. This role ensures that machines are properly configured to produce high-quality parts while adhering to safety protocols and production standards. The operator works closely with production supervisors, quality control, and maintenance teams to maintain efficient operations and achieve production goals.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience operating and setting up stamping presses in a metal manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with die setting and adjustments for various metal parts.
  • Proficient with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and blueprint reading.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems in stamping presses.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Technical or vocational training preferred).
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime, shifts, or weekends as required.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and adjust stamping presses, including die setup, alignment, and calibration, according to production requirements.
  • Load and unload dies and tooling components using appropriate equipment (cranes, hoists, or manual tools).
  • Program and adjust press controls to ensure proper speed, feed rate, and stroke settings.
  • Inspect first-run and in-process parts using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and report non-conforming parts to quality control or the supervisor promptly.
  • Perform periodic quality checks throughout production runs to ensure product consistency.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot press and tooling issues during production to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams for major repairs or preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), while operating equipment.
  • Ensure that safety guards and other protective devices are properly installed and functioning.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to 5S principles and company safety policies.
  • Complete production logs, quality reports, and equipment maintenance records accurately and promptly.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding production status, issues, or process improvements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance production efficiency and safety.
