About The Position

Responsible for grinding, sanding, and mirror polishing fabricated metal components. Uses hand tools, buffer wheels, and power tools to ensure a smooth, mirror finish. Inspects for defects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year displayable experience. Preferably in an automotive or manufacturing aerospace environment.
  • A self-motivated individual with the ability to take directions then schedule and follow through with daily tasks and assignments.
  • A team player that can work effectively with all personnel, as well as be able to work within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift product up to 50lbs. and frequently stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to read pi-Tape, calipers, depth gauge, and a weight scale. Ability to read drawings (blueprints) and shop travelers.
  • Ability to use calipers, depth gage, micrometer, and height gage.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Therefore, employment is contingent on compliance with ITAR regulations and successfully obtaining and maintaining the necessary export authorization license from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of State’s Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Grind, sand, deburr, and polish metal components.
  • Correct defects. Must have experience operating buffering wheel, hand sander, hand buffer, band saw, and drills.
  • Prepare the surface for further finishing. Prepare all surfaces with smooth finish to go out for processing such as anodizing, primer, and paint.
  • Mark cracks and splits for repair. Identify and repair any imperfections on the material (components) prior to any outside process.
  • Polish and grind materials according to specifications. Polish, buff, and/or deburr materials according to documented specifications.
  • Trim and scrape objects. Trim, drill, sand, and rack parts for the next operations.
  • Clean equipment and worktables after use. Clean as you go. Keep a clean work area.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of the business through Kaizen initiatives.
  • Load or remove work pieces from worktables. Keep the workbench free of any parts at the end of your shift.
  • Maintain or repair equipment as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
