About The Position

The Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) is looking for a Lab Manager for our in-house analytical facility, the GLRBC UW Metabolomics Lab, to analyze metabolites produced in the conversion of plant biomass to liquid fuels and commodity chemicals. This person will collaborate with and direct a team of technicians and facility users to execute established protocols to quantify sugars, fatty acids, alcohols, and other metabolites using high-performance liquid chromatography-refractive index detectors (HPLC-RID) (Agilent) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) (LECO). Additionally, they will be responsible for planning and executing new method development, maintaining and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation, and managing lab supplies and budget. The Lab Manager position will also be responsible for monitoring lab performance and communicating with leadership and client lab stakeholders.
