About The Position

As a MEP Manager within the capital projects construction team, this role acts as an Owner’s side stakeholder in the development, procurement and delivery of the MEP systems for our projects and operations. You will act as the critical conduit between Yondr and the various construction contractors and vendors, ensuring continual, proactive communication is maintained to ensure all contract requirements are met at every stage of the project. You will be a highly visible representative of Yondr, expected to uphold our culture in the performance of your job duties. You will also take an active part in the strategic technical initiatives, development of standard specifications, QA / QC procedures and continuous improvements. This role will bring technical expertise and experience with the ability to think differently, challenge tradition and offer innovation and evolution to Yondr’s unconstrained technical solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or field related to construction, OR relevant experience directly related to mission critical construction delivery with an emphasis on electrical or mechanical scopes.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience on US based construction projects.
  • Strong organizational and management skills. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, vendors, suppliers and government entities.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Project, Procore, Bluebeam and similar construction project management tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written. Effective presentation skills.
  • Experience with analyzing construction CPM schedules.
  • Proven ability to make judgement calls in the field as required to manage the construction.
  • An assertive leader. Able to lead meetings, foster cohesion and drive accountability.
  • Deep understanding of electrical, mechanical, controls systems and associated installation sequences and best practices.
  • Ability to lead all phases of building commissioning (L2-L5).
  • High competent at reading MEP plans, specifications, diagrams, instructions and safety materials.

Responsibilities

  • Manage contractors and vendors in the delivery, inspection, installation, and commissioning of MEP systems in alignment with the contract documents and operational requirements.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects. Act as site lead for the project, to include non-MEP scopes, as assigned.
  • Provide technical leadership and coordination of all parties to ensure successful completion of construction objectives.
  • Oversee the integration of MEP systems with other critical infrastructure (e.g., BMS, power, HVAC, fire suppression, and security systems).
  • Manage stakeholders including architects, engineers, and internal teams to maintain schedule milestones.
  • Analyze, track, and effectively manage critical milestone activities to avoid schedule slip.
  • Verify that the correct processes, procedures and documentation is being utilized.
  • Production of formal project status reports and other periodic reports as required.
  • Manage the interface between all suppliers through monthly trackers and weekly reviews
  • Manage the flow of project information between the project team through regular meetings and written communications.
  • Provide technical support to owners, architects, general contractors and regional stakeholders.
  • Assist with RFIs from the contractors and coordinate involvement with other parties as needed.
  • Provide technical expertise for cost control, value engineering, and constructability guidance where required.
  • Independent review of status reports, drawing submittals, timelines and costs from architects, contractors and suppliers.
  • Client management – assist in developing excellent working relationships with Clients, with a view towards maximizing new opportunities.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the community as needed to successfully meet project objectives. This includes local AHJ officials, inspectors, residents, businesses and adjacent construction projects.
  • Strategic Thinking - provide advice to project teams on approaches that can be adopted to successfully achieve both clients’ objectives and business objectives.
  • Knowledge management – ensure that key information and learnings generated from each project is captured.
  • Process improvement – Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes.
