About The Position

The MEP Manager provides technical leadership for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP/FP) scope on assigned projects. This role serves as a subject matter expert and the primary point of integration between design, field operations, subcontractors, and project management—identifying constructability and coordination issues, supporting schedule and procurement planning, overseeing commissioning efforts, and ensuring successful turnover of MEP/FP systems from preconstruction through closeout.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of MEP/FP systems and typical construction/commissioning workflows
  • Ability to coordinate across designers, subcontractors, field teams, and owners
  • Strong organization and documentation discipline (submittals, RFIs, logs, closeout support)
  • Proactive problem-solving and ability to drive issues to closure
  • Comfort supporting procurement/buyout decisions through scope/proposal review
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in complex project environments
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and ethical construction practices
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field or equivalant experience
  • 5 years of experience supporting or leading MEP/FP coordination on commercial construction projects
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical submittals
  • Experience coordinating MEP subcontractors/consultants and supporting field issue resolution
  • Working knowledge of scheduling concepts and cost impacts related to MEP scope
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard project documentation systems
  • OSHA 10

  • Experience with BIM coordination tools and platforms (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD)
  • Experience using construction management software such as Procore and Primavera P6
  • Experience supporting commissioning and closeout documentation processes

Responsibilities

  • Provide MEP/FP technical oversight from preconstruction through closeout, including commissioning and turnover readiness.
  • Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications to identify constructability issues, coordination conflicts, and project risks.
  • Participate in design and coordination meetings with consultants, owners, and project teams to drive system integration decisions.
  • Evaluate MEP subcontractor proposals, scopes of work, and prequalification packages to support buyout and procurement decisions.
  • Develop and maintain MEP schedules and sequencing plans in partnership with the project team to align field execution to milestones.
  • Oversee MEP coordination workflows including shop drawings, BIM/clash detection, and field installation planning to enable efficient execution.
  • Track MEP submittals, RFIs, and change orders to support timely approvals, issue resolution, and accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate field inspections, testing, balancing, startup, and commissioning activities; collaborate with commissioning agents to verify performance and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot MEP system issues with subcontractors and project teams to resolve deficiencies and prevent rework.
  • Assess MEP-related cost impacts and value engineering options and communicate progress, risks, and performance through regular reporting.
