About The Position

As with all employees at Mentoring Alliance, the Mentor Coach (MC) is considered to be a Minister of the Gospel. MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the Mentor Coach is to cultivate mutually transforming mentor/mentee relationships through coaching all members of a match team. AUTHORITY Authority to accomplish this job is given by the Director of Mentor Connect to whom the Mentor Coach is responsible. Authority is given to purchase equipment and materials necessary to accomplish this job. Any purchase over $250 – including projects that entail multiple purchases that add up to over $250 - will be made after consultation with and approved by the Director of Mentor Connect, whether or not they are budgeted items. CLASSIFICATION & STATUS This position is a class 40 position. It is full-time, exempt, and averages 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Actively involved in a local church.
  • Bachelor’s or experience equivalent in Social Work, Education, Counseling, or other related fields.
  • 3-5 years or more of experience working with students and families from various backgrounds.
  • Ability to counsel adults from a Biblical perspective.
  • Excellence in communication and interpersonal skills with people from various backgrounds.
  • Computer knowledge and skills to use Microsoft Office effectively and implement the database that is used to track relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting: Maintains mentee matches as 100% of referrals come through school counselors or school staff. Develops good working relationships with parents of mentees. Develops good working relationships with school counselors, principal and other staff. Assists Mentor Connect Director with Mentor recruiting as needed. Conducts in person interviews with potential Mentors. Schedules and conducts interviews with parents/guardians of potential mentees. Conduct pre-match training for mentors.
  • Match Oversight: Plans and facilitates match parties. Plans and facilitates annual reviews and recommitments between match teams. Builds relationships with all members of the match team to ensure safety and match effectiveness. Conducts regular follow-ups with all members of the match team per outlined schedule. Provides support, guidance, and insight to each member of the match as needed. Keeps all match information up to date on SalesForce Documents all significant interactions that give clarity for the life of the match. Documents and notifies leadership of any safety concerns or violations. Ensures matches are ended or launched when appropriate and with all necessary stepscompleted.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensures that all job duties are performed in accordance with MA’s safety and compliance standards Maintains SalesForce monthly follow ups of an early/on-time percentage at 70%. Documents all communications with mentors, mentees, and mentee family members in theprogram database. Completes required reports as requested and/or needed. Reports any signs of child abuse to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Provide feedback in a timely manner to regional or Program Development leadership if any safety policy concerns arise
