About The Position
Beacon's Mental Health Technicians (MHT) at our inpatient hospital play a critical role in supporting the mental health and well-being of patients. This position involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide direct care, monitor patient behavior, and assist in therapeutic activities. Our MHT team members ensures a safe and supportive environment for patients experiencing mental health challenges, contributing to their recovery and stabilization. This role requires compassionate interaction, keen observation skills, and the ability to respond effectively to crises. Ultimately, the MHT helps facilitate the delivery of high-quality mental health services within the hospital, promoting positive patient outcomes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Mental Health Technician training program or relevant certification.
- Basic knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment approaches.
- Ability to pass background checks and comply with hospital policies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a psychiatric or hospital setting.
- Certification in CPR.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Training in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to patients with mental health conditions, including assisting with daily living activities and therapeutic exercises.
- Monitor and document patient behavior, mood, and progress, reporting any significant changes to the clinical team promptly.
- Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment by observing patients closely and intervening in crisis situations as necessary.
- Collaborate with nurses, psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare staff to coordinate patient care and support discharge planning.
