About The Position

Join CHI St. Alexius as a Full-Time Mental Health Tech! The Mental Health Tech provide quality direct patient care and maintain a therapeutic, safe, and supportive environment for our patients. You'll assist patients in developing coping skills, promoting self-expression, and taking responsibility for their well-being.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree or Mental Health Tech Certification from either American Medical Certification Association or National Career
• Must be listed on the Nurse Assistant Registry operated by the North Dakota Department of Health at the time of hire or within 90 days of employment.
• Will obtain the following within six (6) months of employment: Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification
• Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting – APS- IA & NE
• First Aid – PRTF only

Responsibilities

• Support patients in a trauma-informed care atmosphere.
• Provide feedback and positive reinforcement for behavioral change.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain a secure environment.
• Perform basic nursing tasks (vitals, specimen collection, ADLs).
• Assist with physical restraints/seclusion using trauma-informed care.
• Facilitate supportive and psycho-educational activities.
• Communicate effectively with patients and the interdisciplinary team.
• Utilize CPI techniques to de-escalate situations.
• Document objective observations of patient behavior and mental status.
• Complete assigned tasks, demonstrating professionalism and adherence to dress code.
