About The Position

CHI St. Alexius is looking for a Mental Health Tech to join the team Mental Health Technician - Make a Difference in Behavioral Health! Are you a compassionate and skilled individual dedicated to supporting individuals on their mental health journey? Join our team as a Mental Health Technician and provide essential direct patient care in a therapeutic environment. Key Responsibilities: Direct Patient Care: Provide trauma-informed care, support, and supervision, fostering a safe and supportive environment. Behavioral Support: Assist patients in developing coping skills, self-expression, and positive behavioral patterns through feedback and reinforcement. Emergency & Safety: Maintain a secure environment, respond to emergencies, and perform basic nursing tasks (e.g., vital signs, ADL assistance). Therapeutic Milieu: Facilitate activities, teach socialization skills, and utilize CPI techniques to manage and de-escalate situations respectfully. Documentation & Teamwork: Accurately document patient observations and collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team. Mentorship: Precept new MHTs and contribute to a healthy, team-focused work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or Mental Health Tech Certification from either American Medical Certification Association or National Career Certification Board.
  • PRTF must be 21 years or older.
  • Must be listed on the Nurse Assistant Registry operated by the North Dakota Department of Health at the time of hire or within 90 days of employment.
  • Will obtain the following within six (6) months of employment:
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification
  • Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting – APS- IA & NE
  • First Aid – PRTF only
  • Certification as a Mental Health Technician if does not have Bachelors degree
