About The Position

This is a great opportunity to work in the behavioral healthcare field. The Mental Health Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or a registered nurse. This is a per diem position where the employee has flexibility in choosing the shifts they work. Our MHTs work 12 hour shifts - 6:30am - 7:00pm or 6:30pm - 7:00am. Requirements would be four 12-hour shifts per month. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Drivers License with safe driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a psychology related field is highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and provides assigned patient care within the general policies, philosophy, and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the hospital.
  • Implements interventions appropriate to the developmental needs of the patient in accordance with the treatment plan demonstrating sound clinical and professional judgement and competency.
  • Participates in community meetings, group therapies, educational and social activities.
  • Monitors unit milieu and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff. Modifies milieu according to developmental needs of the patients.
  • Responds to patients in crisis and acts according to developmental needs of the patient to ensure patient and unit safety.
  • Completes patient rounds timely in accordance with unit requirements and accurately documents patient observations on the Patient Observation Record.
