About The Position

This is a great opportunity to work in the behavioral healthcare field. The Mental Health Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or a registered nurse. This is a per diem position where the employee has flexibility in choosing the shifts they work. Our MHTs work 12 hour shifts - 6:30am - 7:00pm or 6:30pm - 7:00am. Requirements would be four 12-hour shifts per month. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid Drivers License with safe driving record

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in a psychology related field is highly preferred

Responsibilities

Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and provides assigned patient care within the general policies, philosophy, and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the hospital.
Implements interventions appropriate to the developmental needs of the patient in accordance with the treatment plan demonstrating sound clinical and professional judgement and competency.
Participates in community meetings, group therapies, educational and social activities.
Monitors unit milieu and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff. Modifies milieu according to developmental needs of the patients.
Responds to patients in crisis and acts according to developmental needs of the patient to ensure patient and unit safety.
Completes patient rounds timely in accordance with unit requirements and accurately documents patient observations on the Patient Observation Record.
