About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Full-Time Team Leader / Mental Health Security Unit Supervisor for the Division of Behavioral Health at the Lincoln Regional Center. Position Overview Under limited supervision, this working supervisor role provides leadership and administrative oversight for assigned staff during a specific shift and/or program. You will both supervise and actively participate in direct patient care, ensuring safety, security, and adherence to facility policies and regulatory standards. This role is ideal for someone skilled in crisis intervention, de-escalation, team leadership, and fostering a structured therapeutic environment. Requirements

  • Coursework/training in human services, social/behavioral sciences, mental health care or related field OR experience providing direct care services to patients with mental illness or other disability.
  • Experience leading, coordinating, directing, monitoring and/or supervising others.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age to work with adult client populations; at least 21 years of age to work with adolescent client populations.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • This position requires proficiency in English, including the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the language effectively.
  • Knowledge of: Supervisory principles and techniques Security measures in behavioral health settings Care techniques for physically and mentally ill individuals Human behavior and performance Instructional methods for individuals and groups

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the work activities of assigned staff.
  • Provides day to day leadership and direction to assigned staff to meet the individual patient needs, follow and implement scheduled daily activities and follow through with active treatment as directed by the Treatment Team.
  • Performs administrative supervision of staff, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, time records, and hiring process.
  • Assures staff training and competency requirements are met.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of and consistently enforces DHHS and LRC policies and procedures.
  • Maintains effective communication with administrative and program staff for continuity of care.
  • Demonstrates leadership by working effectively with others to improve operations for the benefit of the patient and/or organization while monitoring staff.
  • Works directly in the patient care areas monitoring staff in assisting patients in areas of personal hygiene, grooming, activities of daily living, leading group activities and assuring patient personal schedules are followed.
  • Participates in patient plan of care, initiates and maintains an active and therapeutic treatment environment for the patients through supervision of assigned staff.
  • Directs and performs activities to establish and maintain a safe, secure and clean environment for patients and staff.
