The Mental Health Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to patients with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and cognitive impairments such as dementia. This position is located on a locked 28-bed unit that provides general inpatient psychiatric care, including specialized services for geriatric psychiatry. In this dynamic and high-paced environment, the Mental Health RN must balance clinical expertise with strong communication skills to provide patient-centered care while ensuring safety for patients, staff, and visitors. The Inpatient Mental Health Unit is a locked unit comprised of 28 beds for general inpatient psychiatry treatment and geriatric psychiatry. The patients in this unit carry various psychiatric diagnoses including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and cognitive impairment such as dementia. Many patients may be under involuntary and/or court-ordered admissions.
