About The Position

The Mental Health Professional (MHP) is a member of a multidisciplinary team responsible for providing mental health treatment services. The MHP assists individuals and their families in achieving an optimal level of functioning through therapeutic services, including implementing individual and group programming in home or community settings. This role involves providing responsible care to individuals, overseeing the routine operation of the facility while on duty, and contributing to the clinical aspects of the individual’s recovery process. This position is part of the Youth Mental Health Services Adolescent Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) and reports directly to the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, OR, at minimum, a graduate mental health degree.
  • At least one year of experience in the behavioral health delivery system (if holding a graduate mental health degree without licensure).

Nice To Haves

  • Licensure is preferred (LCSW, LSW, LPC).

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health treatment services.
  • Assist individuals and their families in achieving an optimal level of functioning through therapeutic services.
  • Work with employees in implementing individual and group programming.
  • Provide responsible care to individuals in the program.
  • Be responsible for the routine operation of the location while on duty.
  • Serve a role in the clinical aspects of the individual’s recovery process.
  • Ensure the individual’s health, safety, and welfare by monitoring their physical health and psychiatric health needs.
  • Enhance the quality of the individuals’ lives and their integration into the community by supporting established goals and community integration.
  • Develop and implement program plans designed to enhance the individual’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and independent living skills.
  • Conceptualize, plan, and facilitate individual and group sessions, and in some cases family therapies.
  • Perform clinical assessments and develop/implement treatment plans.
  • Complete all daily, weekly, and monthly records (e.g., treatment plans, reports, logs, and other documentation).
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members, individual’s families, involved agencies, and the community in providing required relevant information.
  • Provide crisis management and intervention, which may include verbal/physical altercations and/or suicidal/self-injurious thoughts or actions, and be on-call as assigned.
  • Be willing to learn and model the five principles of trauma-informed care: safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment.
  • Commit to promoting cultural, racial, language, and gender access, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Provide case administration to an assigned caseload.
  • Serve as team leader when needed.
  • Assist the family in the development and utilization of community and natural resources.
  • Be responsible for transitioning and supporting the adolescent and family during the discharge and follow-up periods.
