This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 500 Nelson Blvd, Kingstree, SC 29556. This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position. As the Mental Health Professional, working under general supervision from the clinical director, you will provide therapeutic services, particularly as a specialist for children and adolescents in Williamsburg County School Based Programs for Waccamaw Center for Mental Health. Provide intakes, counseling and case management dealing with situations encompassing interpersonal, health and psychosocial factors. Provide crisis diversion services and consultation to individual and/or agencies, hospitals and WCMH outpatient department. Provide services to all patients and families within Kingstree Office. This does include home visits to patients and their families.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in guidance, counseling or social services.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; ability to see, hear at normal volumes, stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend and climb at least two (2) flights of stairs. Ability to tolerate noise level and circulate in patient areas for long periods. Must be able to work with repetitive patient behaviors.
  • Be able to meet OMH credentialing requirements which include specific graduate course work including Psychopathology/Psychopathology Diagnostics/Clinical Assessments -Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) and Medical Ethics.
  • Must be able to show evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience maybe documented as a practicum, internship or post-graduate experience.
  • Be able to provide a 10-year DMV driving record
  • Be able to use a state vehicle for work related purposes.
  • Use clinical judgement while working independently and be self-directed.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Have capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families and representatives of other professional disciplines.
  • Participate in on-going in-service training and other educational opportunities in order to maintain and acquire necessary skills to perform all duties.

Nice To Haves

  • License preferred - profession counselor or social worker in the state of South Carolina.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling and case management to individuals and families with a focus on the chronically mentally ill and those with emotional disturbances by utilizing group and family counseling and other approved center services.
  • Maintain an average bill of direct service hours of 810 annually.
  • Develop treatment plans in coordination with patients, families and treatment team.
  • Assist with treatment scheduling and meetings.
  • Provide direction and guidance with patients in gaining appropriate services.
  • Consult with local agencies, organizations and human service providers on behalf of patients and/or families.
  • Maintain documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, Local, OMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF standards.
