Scholars Unlimited is a non-profit organization that provides high-quality, comprehensive after school and summer learning programs to elementary school children in metro Denver. The Mental Health Manager plays a vital leadership role in supporting the emotional well-being of elementary-age children in our after-school programs. This individual oversees the design, coordination, and delivery of comprehensive mental health services, supervises a team of mental health interns, and works collaboratively with program staff and families to create a supportive, trauma-informed environment for all scholars. This position will report to the Vice President of Impact.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field is required.
• Minimum 1 - 3 years of experience providing mental health services to children, preferably in school or OST settings.
• Experience in supervising and managing people
• Experience supervising staff or interns in a clinical or school-based environment.
• Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both families and staff
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Scholars Unlimited

• Ability to build relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LFMT) Required.
• Must complete and pass criminal history background checks prior to the start of employment
• Must work during after-school hours (e.g., 1-6 PM) and attend occasional evening events or family meetings.

• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred

Responsibilities

• Program Leadership & Oversight Lead the development and implementation of a responsive, culturally affirming mental health program across multiple after-school sites.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making data-informed adjustments as needed.
• Ensure that all mental health programming aligns with organizational values and best practices in youth development.
• Direct Mental Health Support Provide individual and small-group mental health services to students as needed, with an emphasis on early intervention and strength-based approaches.
• Conduct assessments and observations to inform individualized support plans.
• Serve as a resource to after-school staff in managing challenging behaviors and supporting students' social-emotional growth.
• Collaboration & Communication Act as a liaison between families, program staff, and mental health providers to ensure coordinated care.
• Communicate with families in a respectful, empathetic, and culturally responsive manner regarding their child's mental health needs and available support.
• Facilitate workshops or trainings for staff and/or families on relevant mental health topics.
• Supervises Mental Health Intern(s) in the performance of their duties, including delegating, counseling, disciplining, coaching, training, evaluating, and terminating.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Provide clinical supervision and professional development for three mental health interns.
• Coordinate intern caseloads, provide regular feedback, and support their growth in child-focused mental health work.
• Ensure that all interns adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice.
