About The Position

Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) has a strong presence in Spokane for over 100 years, providing evidence-based treatment to adults, youth, and seniors dealing with a wide range of behavioral health issues. As a Trauma-Informed Care Organization, FBH believes in recovery and supports clients in leading fulfilling lives. The organization offers various client services including outpatient, inpatient, community outreach, crisis services, and partnerships with schools and law enforcement. The Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) is an intensive, community-based multidisciplinary treatment team. It provides person-centered care to adults whose needs cannot be met through traditional outpatient services. The Mental Health Care Provider delivers clinical behavioral health services across important life domains such as health, education, employment, social/family, cultural, recreation, spirituality/religion, and housing. These services are client-centered, trauma-informed, and aligned with clinician and recovery models to support client progress. Services are provided to individuals of all ages in virtual, office, or community-based settings, and include sleep hygiene, mindfulness, emotional regulation, psychoeducation, community resource referrals, cognitive coping, behavioral activation, communication basics, mental health measures, care coordination, crisis assessment and intervention, identifying strengths and values, groups, and program orientation. PACT operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7 days a week, with the team participating in rotating weekend shifts, for which employees receive a different day off during the same week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must apply for a Counselor Agency Affiliated – Registered credential from the WA State Department of Health within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have an unrestricted and valid driver’s license, be able to pass a motor vehicle screening and driving test, have active car insurance, and be willing to use their personal vehicle in the course of work.
  • Ability to develop knowledge of Washington Administrative Codes and statutes pertaining to the treatment and delivery of mental health services.
  • Ability to communicate and engage effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds, trauma experiences, cultures, education level, and socio-economic status.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply active listening techniques conveying respect, professionalism, engagement skills, positive attitude, and empathy.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to send and receive oral and written messages, in a clear, positive, prompt, and appropriate manner, while maintaining customer confidentiality.
  • Ability to learn the PACT model and effectively deliver groups, skills training, brief/focused therapy, and community-based interventions for adults.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience providing mental health services in a behavioral health care setting.
  • Experience with crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Provide episodic, trauma-informed, person-centered counseling utilizing evidence-based practices within scope of practice.
  • Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop and implement safety plans, and provide crisis intervention and stabilization services as needed, including facilitating access to inpatient facilities for behavioral health care.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate client treatment groups.
  • Represent the agency and its services to the community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, including regular supervision and weekly clinical staff meetings.
  • Participate in any required training, consultation calls, and onsite visits or reviews when required by contract.
  • Accept delegation and follow through with specific expanded assignments and responsibilities within FBH system such as quality improvement teams, task groups, committees, consultations, mentoring or training responsibilities.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with clinical, administrative and support staff, community partners, clients, and family/natural supports.
  • Identify and include the client’s support network and applicable involved community partners in care coordination.
  • Serve as part of the care team and meet productivity standards in accordance with agency program guidelines.
  • Develop and implement care plans with measurable objectives and obtainable goals, in collaboration with the client, evaluating client’s progress and adjusting as needed.
  • Collaborate with master level clinicians, peer support specialists, prescribers, care navigators, or other team members for additional treatment needs as identified on the care plan.
  • Provide care management services to clients including: Assist clients in identifying and accessing resources and collaborating with community resources on behalf of clients. Assist clients in the development of healthy coping mechanisms in individual or group settings. Provide employment and housing assistance as appropriate and necessary. Provide education on the impact of mental health diagnosis on important life domains.
  • Comply with all state WAC requirements and FBH policies and procedures.
  • Perform FBH charting requirements, correspondence, Workday, and other paperwork in a complete and timely manner.
  • Operate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • May be assigned to supervise bachelor’s level interns.
  • Requires travel to see clients in the community and travel between work sites either via FBH owned Vehicles and/or personal vehicle.
  • Other duties as assigned by agency or supervisor.
