About The Position

Job Summary: Columbia Gorge Community College is seeking a dedicated Men’s Soccer Head Coach to launch and lead the College’s first-ever men’s soccer program. This position plays a foundational role in establishing a competitive NWAC program and building a team culture that supports athletic growth, academic success, and personal development. The Head Coach will be responsible for recruiting and retaining student-athletes, creating and implementing effective training and match-day strategies, and developing a positive, inclusive team environment. The coach will engage with local, regional, and broader recruiting networks to build a strong roster and set the long-term direction for the program. In addition to leading the men’s team, this position also serves as the Assistant Coach for the Women’s Soccer Program to support shared alignment, collaboration, and overall program growth. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in coaching or competitive soccer and a demonstrated commitment to helping student-athletes develop on and off the field. This role is well-suited for a coach who is energized by building a program from the ground up, establishing traditions, and contributing to CGCC’s growing athletics department. Reports directly to the Director of Student Housing and Student Life, and is considered to be part time.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, required. Bachelor’s degree preferred, in a related field.
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school age or above;
  • Ability to balance dual coaching responsibilities across men’s and women’s programs;
  • Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to fostering equity and inclusions, with an appreciation for the varied cultural, social and economic experiences that enrich our college community;
  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice sessions and competitions;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff within a campus community;
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license;
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the men’s intercollegiate soccer program tailored to student-athlete needs and institutional resources;
  • Recruit student-athletes, maintain relationships with the local area high schools cross country programs; and manage the eligibility process in coordination with athletics and admissions
  • Monitor athletes academic progress, enforce the eligibility requirements, and collaborate with campus-wide student support services;
  • Plan and lead practices, team meetings, and game strategies while fostering a positive and competitive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, accountability, and respect.
  • Collaborate with the Women’s Head Coach to align training methods, program goals; as well as coordinating match schedules, travel logistics and equipment management for both teams;
  • Assist with evaluating game film, player development, conducting practices and match preparation;
  • Support recruiting activities by identifying prospects and maintaining communication with potential student-athletes;
  • Assist with match-day operations, travel arrangements, and overall program logistics;
  • Promote a cohesive department culture between both soccer programs and the other athletic teams
  • Conduct intercollegiate cross country program in accordance with CGCC’s rules and regulations, as well as NWAC’s Codebook, Soccer Standard Operating Procedures, and Coaching Handbook;
  • Participate in departmental meetings, NWAC meetings, and represent the college at conference or other events;
  • Maintain open lines of communication within the athletic department, campus community, student-athletes and other stakeholders;
  • Collaborate with the college’s marketing and communications teams to promote the soccer programs and participate in outreach, fundraising initiatives or other community activities that enhance the visibility and advance the college’s athletic programs;
