About NomadicML Americans drive over 5 trillion miles a year, more than 500 billion of them recorded. Buried in that footage is the next frontier of machine intelligence. At NomadicML, we’re building the platform that unlocks it. Our Vision-Language Models (VLMs) act as the new “hydraulic mining” for video, transforming raw footage into structured intelligence that powers real-world autonomy and robotics. We partner with industry leaders across self-driving, robotics, and industrial automation to mine insights from petabytes of data that were once unusable. NomadicML was founded by Mustafa Bal and Varun Krishnan , who met at Harvard University while studying Computer Science. Mustafa is a core contributor to ONNX Runtime and DeepSpeed with deep expertise in distributed systems and large-scale model training infrastructure Varun is an INFORMS Wagner Prize Finalist for his research in large-scale driver navigation AI models and one of the top chess players in the US. Our team has built mission-critical AI systems at Snowflake, Lyft, Microsoft, Amazon, and IBM Research , holds top-tier publications in VLMS and AI at conferences like CVPR , and moves with the speed and clarity of a startup obsessed with impact. About the Role We’re looking for a Frontend Engineer who can move extremely fast and turn ambitious designs into polished, production-ready interfaces. This role sits at the intersection of design, product, and engineering . You’ll work closely with our founding designer and backend / ML teams to ship new product surfaces, workflows, and interactions at startup speed. You’ll be responsible for making sure everything looks right, feels right, and works flawlessly, from complex video review dashboards to high-impact landing pages. The ideal candidate is deeply execution-oriented, comfortable using modern AI-powered dev tools to accelerate development, and excited to experiment, iterate, and ship. If you enjoy taking loosely defined ideas and rapidly turning them into beautiful, usable software, this role is for you.

Requirements

A strong frontend portfolio showcasing real, shipped work (product UIs, dashboards, complex web apps, or high-quality websites)
Deep experience with React and modern frontend frameworks (Next.js preferred)
Strong command of TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
A track record of shipping quickly in fast-moving environments
Comfort working from design tools like Figma and collaborating closely with designers
An eye for detail: spacing, typography, animations, and interaction polish matter to you
Experience using AI tools to accelerate development and experimentation
Clear communication skills and a bias toward action

Nice To Haves

Experience with data-heavy or visualization-rich interfaces
Familiarity with Tailwind, Framer Motion, or similar UI/animation libraries
Experience building internal tools or B2B / developer-facing products
Interest in AI, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other deep-tech domains
Startup or early-stage company experience

Responsibilities

Bring Designs to Life Implement high-fidelity product and marketing designs with precision. Translate Figma files into responsive, accessible, and performant web experiences.
Move Fast With AI Tools Leverage AI-assisted development tools to prototype, iterate, and ship frontend features quickly without sacrificing quality.
Product UI Development Build and own major parts of NomadicML’s web application, including dashboards for video review, search, edge-case exploration, and customer workflows.
Design-Engineering Collaboration Work hand-in-hand with the founding designer to explore new interaction patterns, refine visual details, and push the product’s look and feel forward.
Quality & Reliability Ensure frontend experiences are robust, intuitive, and bug-free. You’ll care deeply about correctness, polish, and performance.
Iteration & Experimentation Rapidly test new UI ideas, animations, and layouts. Kill what doesn’t work, double down on what does.
Frontend Architecture Help shape our frontend stack and best practices so we can scale the product without slowing down.
