Nucor Steel Hertford is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Melt Shop Technical Supervisor. The role of the Melt Shop Technical Supervisor includes, but is not limited to: Establishing a culture of safety awareness, team development, quality production, and continuous improvement. Coordinating safety, quality, and process improvements throughout the Melt Shop and Caster. Managing metallurgical engineering functions in the Melt Shop and Caster, including coaching, mentoring, and developing the Melt Shop metallurgical and process team. Leading the Melt Shop and Casting Team to achieve World Class Quality, Yields, and Costs. Supporting new product development efforts and coordinating trials with other departments. Supporting customer technical service including direct technical contact with OEM customers. Developing technical training for our teammates. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

B.S. Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent engineering degree
Minimum of 5 years of Melt Shop or Continuous Casting metallurgy experience

Responsibilities

Establishing a culture of safety awareness, team development, quality production, and continuous improvement.
Coordinating safety, quality, and process improvements throughout the Melt Shop and Caster.
Managing metallurgical engineering functions in the Melt Shop and Caster, including coaching, mentoring, and developing the Melt Shop metallurgical and process team.
