About The Position

The Houseperson in the Meetings and Events department at the Statler Hotel is responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of events by handling the setup, breakdown, and cleaning of all function areas. This role involves maintaining and assisting clients with audiovisual equipment while providing professional and timely service. Additionally, the Houseperson supports and mentors student workers during shifts, fostering their development. Flexibility is required, as the schedule varies with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and well-being.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Familiar with audiovisual equipment, and basic event set-ups ranging from conferences and meetings to social events such as weddings and galas.
  • Able and willing to move heavy furniture quickly and efficiently in order to meet set up deadlines.
  • Professional appearance and pleasant demeanor.
  • Must be able to handle last-minute requests and shifting priorities in a high-paced work environment whist delivering service fitting of a four-diamond property.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of computers, specifically display and audio settings typically used in a presentation setting, as well as commonly used software and programs such as zoom, Microsoft teams, and PowerPoint.
