Medication Technician- Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services Men's Residence- Per Diem

The Medication Technician provides direct support to individuals participating in residential addiction recovery services. This role oversees the self-administration of medications, monitors medication effects, maintains accurate medication records and inventory, and supports a safe and recovery-oriented residential environment. The Medication Technician works closely with nursing and residential program staff to ensure medication safety and effective coordination of care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- CPR and First Aid certification required, or ability to obtain within the first month of employment
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced setting
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients
- Proficiency with computer systems for documentation and communication
- Ability to work collaboratively as a proactive member of a multidisciplinary team
- Professional conduct that reflects positively on the organization
- Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard).
- Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. (e.g., boxes, equipment, IV solutions), with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers.
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require.
- Capacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- One (1) year of experience as a Medication Aide or Medication Technician
- One (1) year of experience working with individuals in substance use disorder or addiction recovery settings
- Basic understanding of addiction, recovery, and behavioral health principles
- Familiarity with strength-based and individualized treatment approaches
- Understanding of group processes and recovery-oriented care environments
Responsibilities
- Oversee and support the self-administration of medications in accordance with agency policies and applicable regulations
- Monitor and document medication effects, reporting concerns or changes to nursing staff as appropriate
- Maintain accurate medication counts and medication inventory
- Ensure medication carts remain organized, clean, and properly maintained, and assist with medication cart audits
- Serve as a positive role model for clients, promoting recovery-focused behavior and healthy boundaries
- Collaborate with nursing and residential program staff to support daily program operations
- Assist with additional duties as assigned to support the residential treatment team
