The Medication Assistance Counselor reports to the Network POSC Financial Service Manager and works with both inpatients and outpatients to obtain free or discounted pharmaceuticals from manufacturers, patient assistance programs, or other sources. The MAC is knowledgeable of all Network patient assistance programs, insurance coverage determinants for medication coverage, available community and national resources, financial need requirements, and Epic. Working closely with financial counselors, social workers, and clinical staff to obtain the needed clinical and financial information to obtain maximal assistance is an integral function of the position. The MAC maintains a database with accurate patient and assistance information, and performs other duties as assigned.
