About The Position

The Community Support Specialist will act as our program's main point of contact for individuals seeking one-on-one Medicare education and counseling. Counseling will be provided in-person, over the phone, or via online video communication, e.g. Zoom. This position will also help the public during Medicare's Open Enrollment at enrollment events within the community. Requirements

  • Post high school coursework/training in social work, human services, public administration, human development, social sciences, psychology, public relations or related field.
  • This position requires some travel t o enrollment events within the city or county during Medicare's open enrollment season. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Able to speak effectively in one-on-one conversations, relaying complex information to the public.
  • Must be able to work within a team and collaborate but also be able to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Skilled in researching and understanding complicated information and helping others understand in simpler terms.
  • Comfortable with using a computer including navigating programs and online tools and processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to speak/write in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one Medicare education to the public via in-person, phone, or web-based tool.
  • Answer calls into our statewide hot line.
  • Provide office support to ensure program meets program goals, including, being available to help walk-in traffic, help with data management.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.
