As the Medicare Educator, this role is responsible for providing unbiased education and counseling to beneficiaries regarding Medicare and related insurance programs. As the Medicare Educator, this individual helps beneficiaries make timely, informed decisions and access resources that best meet their needs. This role supports program delivery through direct service, outreach, and collaboration with volunteers and community partners.

Requirements

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in a business-related or human services field, or equivalent experience
• Valid driver’s license required
• Demonstrates knowledge of Medicare programs, benefits, and enrollment processes, along with the ability to learn and stay current on regulatory updates and program requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and can clearly explain complex information to diverse audiences, including older adults, caregivers, and community partners
• Comfortable presenting in group settings and responding to questions
• Strong organizational and time management skills are required to manage appointments, documentation, and reporting
• Ability to collaborate effectively with beneficiaries, volunteers, and partners while maintaining professionalism and empathy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Nice To Haves

• Medicare, Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP), or insurance-related experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one Medicare counseling to beneficiaries by phone or in person
• Assist beneficiaries with Medicare Part D Plan Finder comparisons and enrollment support
• Complete required government forms accurately and within the same workday or by the end of the next scheduled workday
• Perform daily data entry and maintain accurate records in required systems (e.g., STARS/SIRS). Accuracy should be maintained at 90% or higher.
• Support recruitment and coordination of SHIINE volunteers
• Interact and collaborate with local volunteers, community partners, and organizations
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all beneficiary and program information
• Travel within the assigned region as directed by the SHIINE Manager
• Stay current on Medicare updates, regulations, and program changes and attend all required trainings
