The Medical Technologist is responsible to the Laboratory Manager or to the Laboratory Medical Director. A Medical technologist will perform clinical laboratory procedures in microbiology, chemistry, hematology, serology, blood bank, parasitology, urinalysis, referred procedures, and phlebotomy. They will share in performance of clinical lab functions associated with the lab. Has the authority to order questionable results rechecked, to judge adequacy of submitted specimens and to request another if original is unsatisfactory. May be required to perform special tasks including individual projects, section head responsibilities, serving on hospital committees or task forces. Will share the laboratory call rotation and staffing needs as necessary.
