Requirements

Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist in an acute care or clinical laboratory setting
Active Florida Medical Technologist License
Licensure in one or more clinical laboratory specialty areas, including: Blood Bank Chemistry Hematology Microbiology Serology

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science
Generalist laboratory experience across multiple disciplines

Responsibilities

Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols
Analyze proficiency testing samples and complete within required timeframes
Perform STAT testing and meet defined turnaround time standards
Correlate and interpret patient results using sound clinical judgment, including delta checks
Perform quality control procedures and troubleshoot out-of-range results
Review pending and result logs and resolve outstanding workload issues
Document all testing and patient results accurately and completely
Communicate critical values per policy and escalate issues appropriately
Assume departmental responsibilities in the absence of supervisory staff as needed
