About The Position

Medical Technologist: Serve as Clinical Lab Professional 2 in The Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center, James Cancer Hospital Laboratory, Columbus, Ohio. Duties: Processes patient specimens using prescribed methodology and instrumentation; uses laboratory computer system to prepare reports, enter and retrieve test requests and results; performs and documents quality control and quality assurance procedures as prescribed; performs and documents preventive maintenance as scheduled; monitor instruments to assure accuracy and precision of results; recognizes, solves and documents problems with patient samples; assists with development, writing, and/or implementation of policies and procedures; assists with on-going preparation to keep laboratory compliant with all hospital and laboratory regulatory agencies; communicate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals concerning test results; collects blood samples; demonstrates annual competency by passing competency exams where required; obtain American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Technician Certification or Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification within one year of hire.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or biological science (foreign equivalents acceptable)
  • Eligible for American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Technician Certification or Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification
  • Requires successful completion of background check

  • Obtain American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Technician Certification or Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification within one year of hire.
