Schedule: (3) 12-hour shifts; holiday and on-call rotation JOB SUMMARY: Medical Technologist (MT) with general laboratory experience including specimen collection & processing, instrumentation operation, troubleshooting & maintenance. Possesses the working knowledge to perform & adhere to QC, QA, proficiency testing, laboratory documentation and safety protocols. Responsible for following established policies, procedures and guidelines of OSS Health which align with the State, CLIA and TJC standards and regulations. Supports the philosophy and goals of OSS Health Team.

Requirements

  • MT - Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology or related field from an accredited institution.
  • MLT - Associate degree in Medical Technology or related field from an accredited institution
  • Completion of a clinical program from an approved school of medical technology or school for clinical laboratory science.
  • American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or eligible to take the certification exam, or meeting the CLIA requirements for training and education
  • Must be detail oriented, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to effectively and efficiently make use of time and resources.
  • Must be able to plan and organize work.
  • Must possess proficient computer skills.
  • Must have professional and effective communication skills and be able to promote effective communication at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 2+ years of current experience in a clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains strong positive relationships with patients, other OSS Health departments and Physicians.
  • Performs and evaluates quality control testing following established guidelines.
  • Maintains a high level of quality assurance, reporting all quality concerns according to policy.
  • Performs all clinical testing as assigned.
  • Records and reports test results accurately and promptly via the LIS.
  • Coordinates and evaluates new lots, procedures and equipment as requested by manager.
  • Performs routine scheduled and specialized maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting on laboratory analyzers.
  • Manages an efficient workstation, keeps area clean and stocked with supplies.
  • Maintains a safe environment following OSS policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes appropriate safety and infection control practices.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patients and all aspects of care.
  • Participates in educational activities, department meetings, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains skills as demonstrated through competency & proficiency testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
