About The Position

The Medical Technician provides essential clinical and administrative support to improve client wellbeing under the direct supervision of the Physician and senior leadership. Primary responsibilities include performing medical triage, medication monitoring, and routine administrative tasks while strictly following all supervisory instructions. The incumbent is expected to maintain highly cooperative relationships with patients, medical staff, and shelter personnel to ensure a seamless continuum of care. As a key member of the team, the Medical Technician remains accountable to their assigned patients and the agency’s standards of clinical excellence. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: List all essential job duties. Conduct patient triage, record medical histories, and monitor vital signs. Assist the Physician with treatment procedures, dressing changes, and the authorized processing of prescription refills. Provide compassionate care using universal precautions and trauma-informed crisis intervention. Facilitate medical group work and engage in harm reduction efforts, including the administration of Narcan and substance use counseling. Manage front-desk duties, including patient greeting, multi-line phones, appointment scheduling, and coordinating hospital admissions or shelter emergencies. Liaise with pharmacies to secure client medications, assist with medical benefits verification, and manage all professional written and verbal correspondence. Maintain a sterile environment by properly disposing of contaminated supplies and utilizing resources efficiently. Adhere to facility dress codes and maintain professional collaborative relationships with all healthcare personnel. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills used to interact with patients, staff, and external partners.
  • Proficient in operating diverse medical equipment and dedicated to continuous learning to maintain high standards of patient care and technical skill.
  • Capacity for strenuous physical activity—including standing, bending, and reaching—with the sensory and motor coordination required to monitor patient status accurately.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-stress environments to ensure the seamless delivery of patient and facility services.
  • High school education or the equivalent with formal training in medical assisting or Medical Technology.
  • One-year full time experience as a Medical Assistant or One year experience as a Medical Technologist.
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification is preferred.
  • Experience with individuals experiencing homelessness and/or addiction.
