About The Position
The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse delivers high-quality, compassionate care to adult patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, cardiac, and neurological conditions. This role offers broad clinical exposure and opportunities to expand knowledge and skills across multiple specialties throughout one’s nursing career. The unit primarily cares for general medical-surgical, urology, and vascular post-surgical patients. Patients are typically higher acuity than standard Med-Surg, including stable trauma patients. Drips are minimal, with opportunities to gain experience in patient monitoring.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience required
- Recent acute care experience not required
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN).
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state or compact license).
- BLS certification required upon hire.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments following standards of care and disease-specific protocols.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans to optimize outcomes and efficiently utilize resources.
- Provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within RN scope of practice and organizational policies.
- Deliver patient and family education and emotional support appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Integrate patient and family teaching into all aspects of nursing practice.
