PCHC’s Primary Care Pharmacy Team is seeking a Medical Support Assistant (MSA) to play an essential role in helping patients connect to pharmacy services that support their health and well-being. In this role, you’ll manage pharmacy schedules, proactively reach out to patients, and collaborate with teams across PCHC to ensure care is delivered efficiently and thoughtfully. You’ll bring a solid understanding of medical office operations, strong communication skills, and a patient-centered approach. While the position supports PCHC’s Pharmacy services, there is not a public pharmacy located at this site.)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 years, with 3 years of experience preferred, in medical office or pharmacy setting required.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Completion of Medical Terminology course required within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • MA, pharmacy technician or equivalent experience preferred.
  • If pharmacy technician must become certified pharmacy technician within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Support Patient Access & Experience: Collaborate with teams across PCHC to support timely responses to patient needs, identify access challenges, and contribute to a positive patient experience.
  • Manage Scheduling & Appointments: Answer patient inquiries, schedule appointments, provide pre-visit information, and actively manage pharmacy schedules to maximize access and reduce gaps in care.
  • Oversee Appointment Reminder Tools: Serve as a super user for appointment reminder systems, managing confirmations, patient preferences, and related functions as they evolve.
  • Conduct Proactive Patient Outreach: Reach out to patients to confirm appointments, follow up on cancellations or no-shows, schedule referrals and follow-up visits, and document outreach accurately in the EMR.
  • Promote Pharmacy Services: Educate patients about primary care pharmacy services and assess interest in engaging with a pharmacist as part of their care team.
  • Maintain Accurate Registration & Coverage Information: Verify insurance eligibility, ensure patient registration accuracy in the EMR, and communicate discrepancies to billing as needed.
