About The Position

Responsible for managing the functions required to support the system-wide medical staff organization. This position ensures that the activities of the medical staff organization meet all internal requirements and comply with external accreditation standards, state and federal laws, and Medicare conditions of participation. This role ensures administrative interface with the community, including members of the medical and allied health staff, medical staff leadership, related offices, health agencies, and the public. In addition, this position assures and establishes rapport, maintains effective lines of communication, and enhances effective relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5 years of experience in an acute care facility medical staff credentialing/services environment
  • Certified Provide Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)

Responsibilities

  • Directs the administrative management of all governance documents, ensuring compliance and managing a secure record retention process.
  • Facilitates the administrative interface between medical staff leaders and hospital administration, ensuring effective communication and cooperation.
  • Manages the organization and direction of an Emergency Room Call Schedule system for all emergency rooms in the hospital system.
  • Plans and organizes with the Medical Staff leadership team to ensure compliance with standards and orientation of new medical staff leaders.
  • Develops and implements ongoing Medical Staff leadership training and orientation programs for new Medical Staff Members.
  • Plans and manages an effective Medical Staff meeting management system, including agenda development, documentation, follow-up, and communication.
  • Leads the development and maintenance of information systems to track and manage data related to the Medical and Allied Staff organizations.
  • Maintains and safeguards practitioner credentials and confidential files for the medical staff and allied health staff.
  • Oversees the teams work regarding historical copies of all medical staff documents, ensuring updates and distribution.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs a centralized, comprehensive credentialing program for the systems medical staff and allied health practitioners.
  • Directs the design, implementation, and management of an objective, criteria-based clinical privileging system, including proctoring, provisional evaluations, and appointment matters.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of current Medical Staff Bylaws, Policies, Rules, and Regulations to interpret, recommend, and implement changes for compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
