Requirements

  • MS Social Work from an acc redited school of social work.
  • Must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners at the LCSW-C level
  • 2 years or more of licensed clinical social work experience in an inpatient Hospital healthcare setting.
  • Experience in an acute care medical setting required; experience in labor and delivery, maternal child health, NICU and pediatric ED preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide age‑appropriate psychosocial care for patients across the lifespan (infant through geriatric).
  • Complete timely assessments, focusing on high‑risk cases such as readmissions, elderly living alone, homelessness, substance use, psychiatric concerns, abuse/neglect, and complex discharge needs.
  • Collaborate closely with the healthcare team, participate in rounds, and coordinate family meetings to ensure continuity of care.
  • Connect patients and families with community resources, advocate for their needs, and educate them on healthcare processes and post‑hospital planning.
  • Facilitate APS/CPS reports, guardianship processes, advance directives, crisis intervention, and ethical issue consultation.
  • Manage psychiatric placement and hospice referrals, including all required documentation.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, hospital workgroups, and outreach activities.
  • May provide supervision to LMSWs as appropriate.
