About The Position

Performs secretarial duties, utilizing kledge of medical terminology, hospital, and therapy procedures. Performs secretarial and reception duties for patients needing therapy, including scheduling, registering, insurance verification, and maintaining medical records. Works in departmental and hospital software systems toplete required tasks. Primary Department, Division, or Unit: Inpatient Therapy and Rehabilitation Support, UHS Wilson Medical Center Primary Work Shift: Day Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Compensation Range: per hour, depending on experience

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • kledge of general office procedures and strongputer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a medical receptionist
  • kledge of insurance applicable to outpatient medical care.
  • Basic kledge of principles and procedures for physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology and cardiac rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Completes necessarymunication for patient processing, including answering multiline telephone system, scheduling patient appointments, recording and relaying information to staff, patients, and other customers.
  • Completes registration of all new patients, including identifying andpleting demographic and insurance verification.
  • Ensures authorization for insurance is obtained prior to patient's initial visit, and continued authorization for additional treatment sessions
  • Schedules patient evaluation appointments and subsequent treatment sessions
  • Manages outpatient scheduling for clinicians daily
  • Prepares patient medical record prior to initial visit, and assists with ongoing medical record management
  • Performs daily billing
  • Compiles departmental statistics daily and reports to Administrative Secretary on a monthly basis
  • Tracks and assists with documentation and claims processing for Medicare and Workers' Compensation claims to ensure reimbursement of rehab services.
  • Assists HIM in processing medical record requests and ensures authorization to release patient information
  • Collects and processes copayments from patients when applicable
  • Types monthly departmental staff meeting minutes and distributes to appropriate staff.
  • Has kledge of and participates in departmental andanizational initiatives for performance improvement (PI).
  • Demonstrates kledge of hospital and departmental infection control policies.
