About The Position

Join our team to provide essential healthcare to underserved populations in a unique environment. The Bluebonnet Detention Center in Anson, TX is looking for your compassionate care and expertise in our medical department! Our dedicated staff work to improve lives through education, healthcare, and a variety of support services. What you’ll do: Perform clerical functions in the maintenance of detainee medical records in compliance with MTC Medical and customer directives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and
  • Two (2) years of office experience including word processing or computer data entry experience. Medical records experience required.
  • Must successfully complete required preservice.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure medical records are accurate and securely stored.
  • Act as medical records liaison with health services and security and administration.
  • Responsible for ensuring all audits: QI activity related to medical records is accurate and timely.
  • Maintain records of services and prepare billing documents submitted to appropriate agencies for facility reimbursement of health care costs.
  • Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records; observe applicable HIPAA rules.
  • Supervise and ensure daily audits of medical records occur to ensure accuracy and quality of documentation, and review results for any pattern of deficiencies. Communicate these findings to healthcare staff and at QI meetings.
  • Ensure requests for medical information from outside hospitals, clinics, physicians are processed. Secure pertinent medical information from other sources relative to the treatment of patients.
  • Ensure the required information from each detainee visit with a healthcare professional is entered into the appropriate data system and review ODS reporting on weekly basis.
  • Coordinate notification of transfers to other health service departments, obtain medical records and review records daily for completeness and accuracy prior to transfer.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
