About The Position

SCRI Oncology Partners, located in Nashville, Tenn., is a dedicated cancer treatment center led by globally recognized oncologists with disease expertise in cancer care and clinical research. The practice conducts clinical trials through their affiliation with Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a global leader in oncology research that has been offering and managing clinical trials in the community for over 30 years. Since its inception, SCRI has contributed to pivotal research that has helped advance the majority of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA today. SCOPE: Under direct supervision, the Medical Records Technician supports the management of patient information by organizing, sorting, and filing all incoming and outgoing records. This role involves preparing and maintaining patient charts for scheduled visits, as well as locating, retrieving, and delivering medical records or electronic medical records as needed. The Medical Records Technician consistently adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards, and demonstrates a strong commitment to patient confidentiality and privacy to safeguard both patients and the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Knowledge of electronic health record systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a medical records’ experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Scans and attaches all internal and external correspondence and electronic medical reports into patient’s medical record chart according to filing system.
  • Ensures that all appropriate documentation for the scheduled patient visit is attached to the patient’s chart.
  • Prints, mails, and/or faxes patient chart information as requested and authorized.
  • Documents all processes.
  • Releases medical records information to persons or agencies according to State and Federal regulations.
  • Compiles and maintains patients' medical records to document condition and treatment and to provide data for research or cost control and care improvement efforts.
  • Picks up out guides at designated locations and returns to Medical Records.
  • keeps electronic reports of records.
  • Sends out dictations to referring providers via manual faxing, right fax, or electronically “Direct Message” (direct message via EMR is required for MIPS.
  • Mails or faxes forms and contacts patient once completed.
  • Sends outgoing faxes and distributes incoming faxes.
  • Prepares correspondence, memos, forms and other typing as requested by supervisor.
