About The Position

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Records Supervisor to help lead our staff at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Laurel Highlands. In this role, you will be maintaining medical records of the inmates housed at the institution. If you are looking forward to becoming an integral member of our team, apply today! In this position, you will supervise, plan, organize, and perform the technical work of a medical records department where medical histories of all patients are established, classified, and maintained. Your work will involve maintaining and updating patient health records and reviewing the records for completeness and accuracy to ensure their applicability for patient treatment, research, and case study. You will also regulate the release of medical information, as well as ensure that all materials shared between state facilities and outside entities are relevant and appropriate according to applicable laws and regulations. Some of your duties will also include supervising specialized clerical staff engaged in medical records maintenance functions and preparing records for inmates paroling or being transferred from the institution. Additionally, you will present medical records in court cases involving subpoena of medical records. Interested in learning more? Requirements

  • Must have possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
  • If you meet the Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification, you must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
