SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES The Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for the proper recording, filing, and upkeep of the Health Center medical records. PERSONAL AND PUBLIC CONTACT The Medical Records Clerk will have personal contact with all levels of Carillon staff, residents, other healthcare professionals, and government agencies. PHYSICAL/MENTAL CONDITIONS The Medical Records Clerk position normally works in a well-lit, comfortable office surrounding. Must be able to concentrate with frequent interruptions. Must be able to sit for up to ninety percent (90%) of the workday. Must have manual dexterity for typing and filing. There will be occasional walking, frequent bending, frequent reaching, and frequent stooping. Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) lbs. independently. May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses, unpleasant odors, and combative behavior. OSHA TASK CATEGORY III Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues but Category I tasks are not a condition of employment. COMPLIANCE Responsible for abiding by all Carillon policies and procedures to include the Code of Ethics and the principles and standards set forth for conducting the business and affairs of Carillon, Inc. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA ) The Medical Records Coordinator will be responsible for abiding by all Carillon policies and procedures relating to HIPAA.
