About The Position

Medical Records Coordinator oversees and coordinates the facilities' medical record process to compile and maintain the medical records of participants to document participant condition and treatment by performing the assigned duties. Maintains the medical records of participants in accordance with all State and Federal regulations. Performs concurrent and retrospective audits of medical records for compliance with State and Federal regulations utilizing established monitors. Operates a computer to process, store and retrieve medical record information and update information such as diagnoses, face-sheets, demographic and physician names, etc. Assures that confidentiality of clinical records are protected with written consent of the participant, or designated agent acting on behalf of the participant, prior to release of information.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) OR equivalent from two-year college OR technical school
  • At least one (1) year related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have knowledge of HIPAA.
  • At least one (1) year of Medical Records coding experience required.
  • Must have one year experience with the frail or elderly population.
  • Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Word and Excel required.

Nice To Haves

  • RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification preferred.
