About The Position

This position is located at Brown Creek Correctional Institution, Polkton, North Carolina. Brown Creek Correctional Institution is a minimum-custody prison housing male offenders. Brown Creek Correctional Institution serves as the hub for healthcare for the male offender population. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 916 offenders. The Medical Records Assistant position requires general knowledge of medical office practices and procedures to review, verify, complete, record, and/or balance records, reports, and figures. The MRA reports to the Nurse Supervisor. This position is responsible for maintaining medical records in a confidential manner and performing duties according to policy and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for this job.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining medical records, documents and materials.
  • Verifying data, summarizing information, records management, claims review and processing.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets to track specific information.
  • Maintain records filing according to policy.
  • Ordering supplies and materials.
  • Provide excellent customer service to outside medical providers, general public and facility staff.
