About The Position

Receptionists greet patients, in-person and on the telephone, make appointments, answer questions, enter and review information in the electronic scheduling and records system and facilitate patient requests for access and information. Receptionists should be caring and compassionate, able to multi-task, work in a team environment and be committed to helping patients access needed services in a busy environment. Related experience or training preferred. Compensation Range: $24.00-$27.87 All new hires will begin at the base wage of this position. Hmong and Spanish speakers who successfully pass a language exam will receive an additional .75 hourly differential to their wage.

  • Ability to prioritize when several tasks are presented at once.
  • Ability to learn and work with new computer programs.
  • High school diploma or GED.

  • One to three months related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

  • Checks-in patients, greets visitors and routes them to the person who can help them.
  • Schedules EMR appointments in person and by phone.
  • Determines method of payment and collects necessary information.
  • Issues required forms.
  • Checks patient forms for completeness and accuracy.
  • Obtains consent for treatment.
  • Updates registration and facilitates enrollment into applicable insurance programs.
  • Updates patient information.
  • Inputs new patient information.
  • Checks patients out and may schedule return appointments.
  • Routes calls and takes messages.
  • Answers patient inquiries or routes question to correct person.
  • Makes new charts where applicable.
  • Reviews billing sheets for completeness and sends completed forms to billing when applicable.
  • Collects fees and co-payments.
  • Checks account balances and requests past due payments.
  • Posts encounters and payments and reconciles payments.
  • Locks away cash at end of day.
  • Maintains communication with providers through the Medical Assistants and Clinic Nurse Coordinator to insure optimum patient flow.
  • Maintains inventory of forms and office supplies and orders as needed.
  • Sanitizes work area.
  • Participates in appropriate staff meetings.
  • Adheres to ODCHC’s attendance policy.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as designated by supervisor.
