Medical Receptionist - Phone Operator/Scheduler

About The Position

Job Purpose: Responsible for greeting patients, answering telephones and general office duties. Job Duties: Greets patients and visitors in a friendly and helpful manner. Answers phones, answers e-mails/patient portal messages, checks voicemails, schedules appointments. Sends messages to nurses for clinical patient needs. Treats staff, providers and patients with respect. Enters new patients information and update current patients information. Checks in patients through Phreesia by verifying demographics; verifying insurance, collecting and posting payments. Collects balances and copays and balances all payments at the end of the day. Gives patients samples, paper prescriptions, and paperwork left for them at the front desk. Cleans out these areas after 90 days. Unlocks and locks the front doors and closes office by locking doors and turning off lights after the last patient has exited. Handles returned letters address changes. Restocks the front desk as needed with supplies and paperwork. Keeps work area and waiting room clean and neat. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; reporting when repairs are needed. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential. Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Conforms to all clinic policies outlined in the employee manual or received verbally from a supervisor. Performs any other task assigned by a supervisor. Working hours will be between 7:45am and 7:00pm weekdays and can also include 9:00am-1:00pm on Saturdays.

Requirements

  • Applicant must have 2 years customer service experience (preferably medical)
  • Great typing skills
