About The Position

The Medical Receptionist I is responsible for greeting patients and visitors in the clinic, handling patient calls for scheduling appointments and routing calls to the appropriate clinical staff. This position will handle front desk tasks including data entry into the Electronic Management System and billing/insurance processing and inquiries.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of related experience
  • Basic computer and typing skills, keyboarding
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to plan and organize effectively
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Two years’ experience in general office or personnel operations including one year experience working within a medical office.
  • Prior EHR experience
  • Must be skilled in the operations of a medical office.
  • Working knowledge of word processing software.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
  • Fluent in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Handle incoming patient phone calls
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Adding new patients
  • Verifying patient information and insurance
  • Routing calls to clinical staff
  • Entering phone notes as appropriate
  • Verify patient information at check‑in/check‑out
  • Collect co‑pays and past-due balances
  • Manage the patient waitlist
  • Verify insurance coverage
  • Register patients for the patient portal
  • Scan insurance cards and identification
  • Assist patients with kiosk use
  • Complete various administrative projects
  • Correcting denied claims caused by registration errors
  • Contacting patients regarding upcoming visits
  • Scheduling patients for wellness visits
  • Inputting information needed by hospital billers
