As a Gensler Medical Planner with our Healthcare team, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. It’s your job to collaborate with a team of architects and designers to deliver unparalleled architectural projects. With you as part of the design team, architecture has never been so engaging. You will leverage your technical acumen and Revit skills to drive client projects from concept through build in a collaborative team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited school
  • 10+ years of related experience as a Medical Planner, healthcare design and planning background
  • Proficiency with Revit required
  • Experience planning HCAI facilities
  • Advanced knowledge of current healthcare planning and programming concepts including patient safety and evidence-based design principles
  • Proficient knowledge of guidelines for design and construction of healthcare facilities
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and accessibility guidelines
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects in various stages of development
  • A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Collaborative and team-conscious
  • Must have the ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships through successful project delivery

Responsibilities

  • Lead medical planning efforts for healthcare projects, from initial test-fits through design and production drawings to construction and activation
  • Facilitate client user group and stakeholder meetings
  • Translate client-provided patient volume and utilization data into a functional program based on the desired Care Delivery Model.
  • Develop Care Delivery Models designed around the desired experience of Patients, Families and Staff.
  • Create program documents based on code requirements, knowledge of industry standards, healthcare planning trends, etc.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with designers, project architects, specialty consultants and engineers in the production of drawings and specifications
  • Participate and present in client meetings and project interviews
  • Conduct analyses of long-term healthcare facility needs and develop solutions involving construction of new facilities and major rehabs of existing facilities
  • Mentor and support growth of team members
  • Collaborates with end users to create solutions in real-time
  • Translates client operational model or other strategic information into architectural design/medical plan
  • Applies governing regulatory codes and hospital licensing standards, and validates that those requirements are met
  • Actively support firmwide sustainability and resilience goals, guiding clients and project teams toward multi-benefit sustainable and resilient design solutions
  • Coordinates or prepares drawings and designs in accordance with Gensler standards, best practice and quality expectations
  • Understands research methodology and integrates research into practice
  • Participates in and may lead team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues and coordination with other disciplines
  • Collaborates in delivering a project on defined budget and schedule requirements
