Position Overview This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all radiation measurements across radiation oncology programs provided by or affiliated with Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center (SARMC). The Medical Physicist supports safe, precise, and high‑quality patient care through ongoing quality assurance, equipment calibration, and collaborative clinical oversight. Key responsibilities include participation in departmental meetings and chart reviews to ensure procedural accuracy; oversight of brachytherapy procedures with an emphasis on safety, accuracy, and meticulous recordkeeping; and assurance of accurate commissioning and calibration of radiation therapy equipment. This role also contributes to administrative and regulatory functions, including NRC documentation, participation on the Radiation Safety Committee, and review and development of departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in medical physics or current certification by the American Board of Radiology
  • Successful completion of Part I and Part II of the American Board of Radiology certification exams, with full ABR certification obtained within three years of hire
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Physicist in a cancer treatment setting
