Foundation Health Partners is seeking a skilled and motivated Medical Physicist to join our collaborative care team in Fairbanks, Alaska. In this vital role, you will ensure the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy by providing clinical physics support, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and working closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists. Requirements

  • Master’s in medical physics, physics, or related field, required.
  • Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Medical Physics, required.
  • Knowledge typically obtained with two (2) or more years of clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with radiation therapy equipment and software.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced clinical environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration, quality assurance, and routine testing of radiation therapy equipment including linear accelerators, CT simulators, and brachytherapy systems.
  • Review and approve complex radiation treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and dosimetrists, ensuring dose accuracy and patient safety.
  • Conduct patient-specific quality assurance checks for IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS, and brachytherapy cases.
  • Complete initial, weekly, and final chart reviews to ensure treatment plan accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with commissioning, acceptance testing, and implementation of new equipment, software, and treatment techniques.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with federal, state, and institutional radiation safety regulations, including documentation and audits.
  • Serve as a technical resource for radiation safety, shielding evaluations, and exposure monitoring.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff and participate in case reviews, multidisciplinary meetings, and department initiatives.
  • Train and support residents, students, and clinical staff on physics principles, equipment use, and treatment protocols.
  • Stay current with advances in medical physics and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
