About The Position

The Medical Physicist Resident will participate in safe and effective clinical medical physics duties. This role operates under supervision commensurate with the resident's level of advancement and responsibility, as determined by the Medical Physics Residency Director.

Requirements

  • Doctorate or Master’s degree in medical physics, physics, or engineering
  • Eligibility for certification by the American Board of Radiology.
  • Current license in the State of Florida as a Medical Physicist In-Training renewed annually.

Responsibilities

  • Develop personal program of self-study and professional growth with guidance from the medical physics and radiation oncology staff.
  • Radiation dosimetry calibrations and measurements.
  • Linear accelerator quality assurance.
  • Radiation safety measures.
  • Radiotherapy treatment planning.
  • Fabrication and quality assurance of radiotherapy treatment aids such as immobilization devices, custom blocks, custom compensators, bolus, etc.
  • Low dose rate and high dose rate brachytherapy dosimetry and quality assurance.
  • Stereotactic radiosurgery dosimetry and quality assurance.
  • Intensity modulated radiotherapy dosimetry and quality assurance.
  • Work on the educational and scholarly activities of the program and, as required, assume responsibility for teaching and supervising other residents and students, when deemed competent to do so by the Medical Physics Residency Director.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional committees and councils, especially those related to technical, safety, and patient care activities.
  • Actively participate in the continuous evaluation of the educational quality of the program.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, guests and all members of the healthcare team, in a professional manner.
  • Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
