About The Position

This person is responsible for maintaining an efficient flow of written and verbal information in the referral process, preparing and processing necessary paperwork and consulting with physicians and staff on information needed in the referral process.

Requirements

  • Two years experience in an office setting.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous insurance, registration and authorization experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Gather required medical information for the referral/test/procedure.
  • Verify patient insurance and plan coverage pertinent to referral information.
  • Convey information in a timely manner to patients and referring provider's office with regard to organizing referrals, based on assigned work queue.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Respond to patient inquiries pertaining to health plan guidelines and other case-specific administrative inquiries.
  • Convey information to patients referring them to health plan or the receiving department when necessary.
  • Review assigned work for referral requests and gather all information to send to the receiving location to be scheduled, contacting the receiving location to ensure it receival, following up as needed.
  • Request notes or test results from the referred to location and ensure the patient is scheduled back at SLVH for appropriate follow up.
  • Document the referral process within the Electronic Health Record following established workflows.
