Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in a medical setting.
  • Individual must have strong clinical skills, be proficient with medical terminology.
  • Excellent typing/computer skills.
  • CPR or acquired within 2 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of a Medical Office Assistant Program or appropriate on the job training in a medical office or hospital setting.
  • Medical Office Assistant Certification

Responsibilities

  • Assists medical staff in carrying out plans for care of patients.
  • Complete registration process including collecting co-payments at time of service and accurately post payments to patient accounts and EOD process.
  • Assists with exams and cultures, point of care testing, minor procedures and other office procedures within scope of practice.
  • Gives IMs, sub q, and oral medications as ordered.
  • Handles patient telephone inquiries and provides results to patients.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing fax paperwork, inner office mail and US postal mail.
  • Scan paperwork that needs placed in the patient’s EMR.
  • Assists physician and mid-level provider in completing prescription refills electronically and complete medication authorizations.
  • Transcribes lab and other medical data to charts.
  • Competently documents visits and notes in EPIC including vitals, reconciling medication lists, as well as injections, treatments, etc.
  • Completes inventory on medical supplies/vaccines.
  • Maintains laboratory quality controls.
